Marsh Delcid, founder of Pantano Clothing, is determined to create garments that last and have minimal effect on our environment.
“The fashion industry is notorious for waste,” he said, “and I would like to change that.”
After nine years working in retail, Delcid started to recognize the amount of waste clothing companies were producing. That’s when he started designing repurposed clothing made from recycled thrift finds.
“I save scraps to make into other things, and try to get the most out of everything I use,” he said.
Delcid draws inspiration from vintage patterns and will usually take different pieces and modify them to his own design.
“I like taking things that shouldn't go together and actually making them go together," he said.
Delcid soon developed an affinity for mixing oversized workwear silhouettes with feminine silhouettes and began to establish his own eclectic style. He’d always wanted to create his own clothing, but he took it a step further when he started creating for other people.
“The feeling I got from seeing someone wear something I made was new to me and I’d never felt anything like it,” he said. “From there, I thought wow, I could actually do this!”
Delcid likes the idea of keeping his brand small with curated pieces, however, he hopes to see Pantano become a full-fledged operation one day.
“I want to show people across the country that Arizona has some talent too!”
Pantano Clothing will be on display during our happy hour next week on Thursday (11/11/21) from 5:00 - 8:00p.m. Stop by for cosmic punch by local fave Cosmic Hour and a meet & greet with the designer!
